My husband and I went for the omakase and it did not disappoint! The fish was fresh and delicately prepared. The head chef also served us, and provided an amazing meal all around. The atmosphere was intimate and cozy. Best sushi we have had in Sayulita and will absolutely be coming back!

My husband and I really enjoyed our dinner at Henshin. We opted for the Premium Omakase (they also have regular a la carte items). The food was amazing. Every piece of sushi that we ate was fresh and flavorful. The pacing of the courses was spot on. We were totally full after the meal. Some highlights for me include the futomaki roll that was loaded with two or three different fish and a drizzle of butter (yes, butter!) that wonderfully complemented the fish. The wagyu and unagi nigiri were also flavorful. The locally caught red snapper carpaccio on the seaweed and cucumber salad was also delicious. All the nigiri were well composed with some nice flavor surprises that did not overwhelm the natural flavors of the fish. The rice was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Head Chef Dani (who served us) knows what he's doing. When you eat a well flavored nigiri that doesn't need any soy sauce, you know you're in good hands. The staff was friendly and knew their fish, much of which is caught in local waters. Service was attentive and pleasant. The little touches were thoughtful and there was a lot of attention to detail: the ceramic dishware was of high quality, the plating was simple and beautiful, the orchestration amongst the staff and the servers was spot on. They even changed out our chopsticks between the raw and cooked courses. The restaurant itself had a classy and unfussy decor. There were about 3-4 tables indoors and a few more outdoors in the courtyard for larger parties. You can sit at the chef's counter as well. We had a nice romantic dinner at a table for two. The restaurant was empty when we arrived at 6 pm for our reservation (off season and it was early). Even if the restaurant was packed it would still feel intimate. The restaurant is located in the quieter northern part of Sayulita, away from the very touristy (and louder and busier) part of town. The food is solid. I would go back again. Thank you to the team for a wonderful time.

A friend of mine recommended this sushi spot and said it was the best sushi he’s ever had but didn’t want to overhype it bc we all know how that goes sometimes! Well, it was worth the freaking hype. Hands down best sushi meal I’ve ever had and I think it’s a combo of the freshest fish / ingredients and the creative flavors that come out of every dish. I’ve never woken up craving a sushi roll from the night before but now I do! A must visit when you’re in Sayulita.

Excellent sushi with great service and drinks. We got the classic omakase and they were able to accommodate my gluten free diet. Fish was super high quality. Highly recommended.

Very reluctant to go, I mean you don't go to of all places in Sayulita for Sushi, however since my partner makes all the decisions I was made to go. Rare is it that I've been wrong. We both have a love affair with sushi and this is by far one of the best sushi restaurants we've eaten at, and yes of all place Sayulita. The passion is in the experience, visually and savoriness. Don't be shy with your wallet, expect to pay a premium . But money doesn't and shouldnt matter if you're out therr to please your spouse, right! Don't take my word for it you'll just have to stroll in and try it for yourself. They up it an notch and likely won't compare with your favorite spot at home, we all have one of those. When in Rome!

Henshin delivers a premium omakase that feels more Tokyo than tourist town. Seven courses, zero filler. Caviar-crowned Wagyu, butter-laced Canadian salmon, and truffle-kissed hamachi hit like poetry. It’s bold, elegant, and backed by top-tier service. If you’re chasing something unforgettable, this is the spot.
